Note the issues:

• The nation kept trying to find a political solution to a spiritual problem!
• They listened to appealing lies about prosperity from attractive charlatans!
• God had faithfully warned for almost 400 years and wishful thinking could not overrule that.
• They needed to heed the call to submission to God’s agents in their lives.
