The name “Evergreen” speaks of life that never withers. It is life that is both eternal and fruitful. This is the life Jesus offers to those who trust in Him:

I have come that they may have life,
and that they may have it more abundantly.
John 10:10b

The key elements of an “ever-green” life are laid out in Psalm 1:

Blessed is the man, who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and in His law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,
that brings forth its fruit in its season,
whose leaf also shall not wither;
and whatever he does shall prosper.
Psalm 1:1-3

Please notice some essential components:

“Blessed” – a life marked by God’s blessing through His grace

“Delight in the law of the Lord” – in contrast to following the “counsel,” pattern (“path”), or habits (“sit”) of those who reject God, we look to the Word of God for a different and distinct approach to life.
